Meet the Intern: Kayla

Hey there! I am so completely excited to join the team at PHBC as one of your summer interns! The Lord has taken me on an adventure that I would have never envisioned for myself. I am thankful that I serve such a wonderful God that writes my story and is not confined by my own visions, but rather He leads me further and loves me more than I could have imagined.

Many of you may know that I grew up within this church and I was present at the majority of events within the children and youth ministries. I have been given the opportunity to witness a handful of interns grow and serve in the ministries, and now it is hard to believe that it is my turn. I know that the Lord has been prepping my heart and mind over the past few years to come serve, teach, and love the children and youth of this church to further His kingdom.

Isn’t it amazing how our God works? Time and time again I have witnessed His great love for me and His people. He has blessed me and challenged me along my walk to continuously choose and pursue Him. After I graduated high school, I felt the Lord pulling on my heart to hold off on college. As I looked for other options, I found a mission’s organization called Adventures in Missions. Some of you may remember or maybe you supported me when I went to Thailand for two months to help victims of human trafficking, and also Cambodia for one month where I worked with an orphanage. It was on this trip that I fell to my knees in awe of my Creator and decided to direct my life to shining His light and spreading His goodness into the world.

When I came back from this trip, I began to attend Moody Bible Institute Distance Learning to study for my Bachelor of Arts in Ministry Leadership with a focus on Children and Family Ministry. As I studied, I moved from my parent’s home to Southington, Ohio, where I have lived with my aunt who is now the Youth and Children’s Ministry Leader at Champion Presbyterian Church. During that time, I was able to help and work in many ministries involved at that church. I was given the opportunity to understand and witness ministry on a deeper level than I had ever experienced. Now, I am a Junior at Moody Bible Institute and I have moved back to my home church to help love and serve the community here.

As I sit here and write this, I am about two hours into my first day as your summer intern. I can already tell that this summer will be wonderful and that God has once again, given me an amazing team and family to work with. He has provided me with an amazing team of leaders that are infatuated with the King. I am thankful for this new adventure, family, and team. God is so good. Here’s to a great summer!
