Over the past several posts, I have expanded on the word “Unity.” The goal was to encourage my brothers and sisters in Christ as we work towards reconciling matters that have brought disunity to our church. The last thing God wants for PHBC is to see the body divided and His children at odds with one another. There are many facets to the events that have led us to needing reconciliation and the only way a church can move forward is to look to the truth in the Scriptures. The Pursuit of Unity: Part 6 – Yielding (By Tim H.)

The final letter in UNITY stands for Yielding. There are two areas of our lives that require this of us. First, our submission to the Lordship of Christ. God placed Jesus in a position over us and exalts Him in that role. Because of this position we are called to submit to the Lordship of Christ and his authority.

The Pursuit of Unity: Part 5 – Trust (By Tim H.)

It’s interesting how the next letter/word in the acronym UNITY is T for “Trust.” Trust is built on a person’s integrity. Where integrity exists, brothers and sisters in Christ are willing to trust one another. When researching trust for my sermon on the ripple effect of Jesus’ prayer in John 17, I was not able to find a Bible verse telling me to put my trust in another person. We are called to trust in God alone.
