The Battle For Souls (By Tim H.)

In my Bible study the other day, I was reading Psalm 110:1-7. Throughout the passage, David hears from God and the promises of conquering and justice. But what was most interesting to me is how author Timothy Keller drew out that earthly kings had the goal of filling the kingdom with bodies under their control, a kind of trophy case. But Jesus’ mission was to conquer by filling the earth with his body. And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all (Ephesians 1:22-23).

I am also reminded of 2 Corinthians 10:4-5: For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ. And Romans 12:9-21, where the battle for souls is made with love, service to others, and truth.

Today, you and I face many battles. People have different ideologies, religious points of view, and values. We need to set aside personal agendas, preferences, and obsession with ourselves and be a part of the battle Jesus started over two thousand years ago for the souls of others.

So what about you? Will you enlist in the battle for souls?
