Our 2021 Summer Interns

SARAH CORNISH

My name is Sarah Cornish, and I’m one of the interns that will be serving you this summer. I just completed my sophomore year at Grove City College, where I am studying to be a high school history teacher.

I was born and raised in Coudersport, PA, so I’m new to the whole Ohio experience! I am always looking for new adventures and would love to explore some of your favorite places. I like hammocking, hiking, and all things outdoors, so send your recommendations my way!

I have the wildest (and cutest) dog, Eva, and about a million pictures if you ever want to see the world’s sweetest puppy! I am the middle child of three kids. My older sister is just finishing her fourth year at Ohio Northern University, where she studies pharmacy, and my brother just finished his junior year of high school. My dad serves as a pastor in the Alliance Church, and my mama is an elementary music teacher. I love my family dearly and am so excited to meet you all- my new family away from home!

I am grateful to be here with you this summer as we grow together as a church and community. I am passionate about serving families, and specifically young people, so please don’t hesitate to introduce yourselves! I look forward to an awesome summer as we lean into all the Lord has in store for us. See you soon!

SARAH OLESON

Hello, PHBC! My name is Sarah Oleson, and I am one of the interns for this summer. I just graduated from Anderson University with a Bachelor of Arts in Family Science this spring.

I have a huge passion for children and their families, and I knew that no matter what career field God led me to, that I wanted to be ministering to the population of families. I am so thankful to have found Parma Heights Baptist Church. This community offers me both the opportunity to pursue my professional goals and a congregation of people who have become like a family to me.

For the majority of my life I have lived in Mid-Ohio with my parents and older brother, who is the father to my favorite little human, my nephew. He is the one pictured with me – we were dressed up for a school project that I had to film.

Although I may be a few hours away from my childhood home, I am eager to put down roots here in the Parma Heights/Cleveland area these next few months and create a home of my own. There are so many unique places that I am looking forward to exploring over the summer! I love being outdoors so the numerous trails and Metroparks nearby are calling my name.

I was at PHBC last summer as an intern and am overjoyed at the opportunity to be back again. I cannot wait to see what the summer holds for me in the ways that I am going to be able to minister to your students and develop myself professionally and spiritually.

I am so excited to be able to experience another summer at PHBC and have the opportunity to plan unique events and activities for the youth at the church. Thank you for opening your arms to me last summer and for welcoming me back.
